The Sapling product team has been busy over the past few months adding features to help People Ops leaders do more with data, automation, and connectivity. In case you missed any of them, here’s the highlight reel of key product features delivered in Q3 2019.

Power Editing 

To help you keep employment records up to date, we added the ability to bulk update multiple records at once from the People Directory page. 

This should come in handy after annual promotions, manager changes, location changes, re-orgs, equipment upgrades, or department name changes. You can use the enhanced filters on People Directory page to find the affected team members and update their data.

Bulk request info 

Not only can you edit existing data in bulk using Power Editing, but you can also get new data you need from your team at once. 

We heard from you that sometimes you need to add a new data field that need to be filled by some or all of your team members. That is why we added the ability to bulk request info from your team. Say you added a Preferred Name and a Preferred Pronoun field for just your San Francisco team. You may now go to the People Directory page, filter to only those in San Francisco, select them all, then from the bulk actions menu select the “Request Info” option. All those you selected will get an email asking them for only the new info you request. And just like that, getting new profile fields solved! 

Chained Approvals

You have asked and we listened! You may now add multiple layers of approvals for certain changes. You can add managers, specific individuals, or create custom permission groups for approvals.  

For example, in order to update data in a Salary Information custom table, you may want to add approval requirements for direct manager, then anyone in the Finance Approver group, then CFO approvals before the change takes effect. 

You can also do the same for time off policies, for example, you can set Sick Time Off policy to not require approval but require that Study Time Off for San Francisco policy be approved by Manager first then anyone in the San Francisco HR permission group.

Scheduled reports 

We remain committed to freeing your time from repetitive administrative tasks! 

To that end, we have added the ability to schedule reports. Whether it is an existing report or a brand new report that you are creating, you can now schedule it to be automatically delivered to your inbox on weekly, biweekly, twice a month, or monthly cadence! 

Is it a report for someone else in your team? No problem! You can use the permissions settings to set up a special permissions group, say for Finance, and share the report with them. They will also get an email when the report is ready for them.  

New weekly emails 

We want your whole team to get the most out of your data in Sapling, to that end we added two new weekly emails: a New Hire Announcement email, and a Manager Digest email.  

The New Hire Announcement can be customized based on location, employment status, and department and can be sent to number of permission groups, manager groups, or individuals. You choose. We have found it to be a great way to keep teams connected and make new hires feel welcome. 

The Manager Digest helps managers better plan and support their teams, the digest provides a summary of milestones and time off activity. More specifically, managers can see direct reports that are: 

  • Starting time off
  • Returning from time off
  • Have upcoming birthdays (if enabled)
  • Have upcoming work anniversaries (if enabled)

Note, that the weekly digest is sent to managers every Friday morning in your default timezone. 

Org chart color coding  

As you may know, Sapling offers you the power to create any number of custom groups. We know dynamic companies allocate their resources and teams regardless of location, department, and manager and can even form in squads or special project groups. Now you can better visualize those breakdowns in the Org chart by selecting the option to color code your Org Chart by department, location, and any custom group you have created in Sapling. 

Integrations: JazzHR, Sequoia, ADP, and Linkedin 

We’ve continued to expand Sapling’s connectivity to bring your data from your HR technology ecosystem under one roof. Here’s a quick recap of the new integrations we added in Q3 2019.

  • JazzHR, a recruiting and applicant tracking system that has helped thousands of companies fill more than 100,00 positions since they started operations in 2009. Users of JazzHR can now pull their data into Sapling.
  • ADP, we deepened our partnership across both the US and Canadian platforms. If your company uses ADP Workforce Now, you will be pleased that we now also support multiple applicant tracking templates so you can use different ones in ADP for different types of employment statuses.
  • LinkedIn Talent Hub, we are proud to be a launch partner for Talent Hub the only ATS built on the LinkedIn network, to bring together recruiting, hiring, onboarding and people management in one solution.
